ADULT WORKSHOP
You see the local headlines, you hear of horrible crimes against children, and try to make sense of your fears. Parents wonder how and why kids are subjected to abduction, sexual abuse, and the newest danger, online solicitation. Worse yet is the gripping question: Will my family ever be affected by these tragic events? Currently one out of seven youth experience online solicitation from adults, peers, and marketing efforts. This means that every child is vulnerable unless their parents and other adults have current information and solid strategies to safeguard them.
30 years ago sexual abuse of children was a well-kept secret, and the teachings were geared only towards protection from strangers. A generation of children has been taught “stranger danger,” but we now know that threats can also come from closer to home. Sexual violence is one of the least expected events within a family, yet it does occur, and can cause years of hardship. Misplaced trust can have terrible consequences, and the emotional scars can last a lifetime.
This educational seminar is designed for parents and other adults to learn how to identify predator behaviors. Participants learn the various techniques predators use to lure and groom children, as well as powerful safety tips that can be taught to children immediately. Home Base is specifically designed to impart information on how to protect families. This powerful presentation amends misinformation and emphasizes what to teach and when to teach it. Parents who attend this seminar become more confident, knowing they have the information and skills necessary to protect their families.
